Three of the most frequently asked questions explained

SimpledCard's Support Team is on hand every working day from 9am to answer customer queries. We have listed the three most frequently asked questions, with answers.

After keying in my PIN three times, my card is blocked. How is this possible? And what now?

There are two reasons why the card is blocked after keying in a PIN. This question is the most common and we will therefore cover it in detail.
Wrong PIN after all
When an employee is assigned a card, he or she also downloads the SimpledCard app. When the SimpledCard debit card is used, the app asks them to justify the transaction. Either, take a picture of the receipt, enter the details and send the transaction. In the app, the PIN can be found. To do this, open the app and click on the arrow below the nine-digit number. Then click ‘show PIN’. If, before making a transaction, you have any doubts about your PIN, check this before using the card.
Wrong pass along
Should you be sure your PIN is correct, and the card is still blocked after three attempts, the following is usually the case.
The app installed on an employee's phone is linked to a debit card. You can verify this by comparing the nine digits at the bottom left of the card with the nine-digit number in the app. This is visible once you are logged into the app.
In some companies, several SimpledCard debit cards rotate. For example, some teams use as many as three cards, which sometimes makes it unclear who has which debit card. Then you may just find yourself carrying a payment card that does not match your app details.
Tips to avoid this:
1. If you want to make sure you have the right debit card in your pocket, verify the nine-digit number in the app with the nine-digit number at the bottom left of the SimpledCard debit card. That way, you know you always have the right debit card in your pocket. Check your PIN before use if you are sure you have the right debit card with you.
2. To avoid this kind of shortcoming, SimpledCard recommends using one debit card per team or per person and agreeing on this with your company or organisation's department.

Can the cash withdrawal or contactless payment option be turned off on the card?

By default, SimpledCard debit cards allow contactless payments, payments in physical shops and cash withdrawals. However, this is only possible from the moment a card is activated and money is transferred to the card for the first time. Only then can the card settings be changed. If you want to change this setting for each card, send a message to support@simpledcard.com and include the relevant nine-digit card number at the bottom left of the debit card and which option you want.

Can online purchases be made with the SimpledCard debit card?

Yes, the MasterCard from SimpledCard can be used to make online purchases. SimpledCard offers two types of prepaid debit cards. Within Europe, you can use the MaestroCard. You can use this like you use your personal bank card. For online payments or transactions outside Europe, we recommend using a MasterCard. You can also order personalised MasterCards from SimpledCard. These are in the name of the cardholder and can be used when booking a flight, renting a car or staying overnight in a hotel.
