How to link AFAS to SimpledCard
- 1. Book a demo
We’ll show you how SimpledCard works with AFAS, tailored to your specific situation. You can then make a decision based on a full picture.
- 2. Become a customer
Once the contract has been signed and the statutory KYC check has been completed, we’ll set up your account and you can order cards for your staff.
- 3. Activate the AFAS integration
The integration is an add-on to your package. You will need administrator rights in your own AFAS environment to authorise the connection; there is no need to purchase anything extra from AFAS.
- 4. Set up the mapping together
In a separate call during the onboarding process, we connect AFAS, configure how accounts and VAT codes are matched, and check the first entries. The integration usually works within about an hour.

- Is the AFAS integration a genuine API integration or an export?
It is a direct link that SimpledCard has built and maintains itself. No file export or external tool is required; your expenses are sent directly to AFAS as journal entries.
- Is the AFAS integration certified?
Yes, the integration is officially certified and listed in the AFAS Partner Portal. This gives you an independent mark that the integration is recognised and supported.
- How much does the AFAS integration cost?
The accounting integrations are a paid add-on to your SimpledCard package. This keeps the basic package simple, and you only pay for the connection you use.
- Does SimpledCard also post entries in AFAS if we use AFAS for HR?
Our integration is an accounting integration: card expenditure and expense claims are posted to your financial accounts with supporting receipts. It is not an HR or user management integration.
- What data does SimpledCard retrieve from AFAS?
General ledger accounts, cost centres, cost objects, projects and VAT codes. This means that staff always enter codes that already exist in your accounts.
- Do you support custom fields in AFAS?
Custom fields are not yet mapped. The standard building blocks, including projects, are fully supported.
- When are transactions posted?
Only settled transactions are forwarded to AFAS. An amount may still change between payment and settlement; by posting only final amounts, you ensure your accounts remain accurate.
- Can multiple organisations integrate with AFAS?
Yes. Each entity is provided with its own SimpledCard environment, with its own integration to its own accounts, so that each set of accounts remains separate.
